Meidahon is committed to making its content and services accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We comply with Israel's Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758–1998, and with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773–2013.
Our accessibility work is guided by Israeli Standard IS 5568 Part 1 (WCAG 2.0 AA), which is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 at Level AA. The goal is to let people navigate the site comfortably with assistive technologies, screen readers, and keyboard-only input.
Meidahon targets conformance with IS 5568 Part 1 (WCAG 2.0 AA) across the main sections of the site: home pages, glossary terms, tax and mortgage calculators, university articles, Mad Hon, and comparison pages. This statement reflects the current state of accessibility, as known to us, on the review date above.
The site is reviewed periodically, and this statement is updated whenever we make structural changes to content, interaction patterns, or the underlying technology.
The following measures are currently in place across the site:
Skip-to-content link: a visible-on-focus link at the top of each page lets keyboard and screen reader users bypass navigation.
Semantic HTML: proper heading hierarchy (h1 through h6), lists, tables, landmarks, and ARIA roles to expose meaningful structure to assistive technologies.
Bilingual support: the Hebrew site runs in RTL mode with lang="he" dir="rtl", and the Olim Guide section runs in LTR mode with lang="en" dir="ltr", so screen readers apply the correct pronunciation and reading direction.
Keyboard navigation: all interactive elements are reachable by Tab, operable by Enter/Space, and dismissible by Escape, with a visible focus indicator.
Color contrast: text and UI elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios in both light and dark modes.
Reduced motion: we honor the system prefers-reduced-motion preference and disable or soften non-essential animations for sensitive users.
Responsive design: the site adapts to all screen sizes and supports text zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
Alternative text: informative images include descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked so assistive technologies ignore them.
ARIA labels: interactive components and dynamic regions use aria-label, aria-labelledby, and aria-live where native semantics aren't enough.
Self-service account tools: users can delete their account and download a copy of their data directly from the Profile page, without emailing support.
We disclose the areas that we know are only partly accessible. We plan to improve them in the next accessibility cycle.
TradingView widgets (market ticker, market overview): third-party components we do not fully control. Keyboard and screen reader support may be limited. The widgets are supplementary; all primary content on the site is usable without them.
Charts and graphs in the calculator pages (recharts, nivo): some visualizations are not yet fully readable by screen readers. We are adding accessible text summaries (aria-label plus visually hidden tables) across all charts.
Flow diagrams and decision trees (@xyflow/react): highly visual components that describe financial decision paths. Their screen reader support is currently limited; text alternatives are in progress.
Advertising content (Google AdSense, when active): ads load from a third party. Their accessibility is the responsibility of Google.
reCAPTCHA on the contact form: an external security component. If you encounter an issue with reCAPTCHA, you can email the address on the contact page directly.
Accessibility on Meidahon relies on the following technologies:
Next.js and React: modern UI framework with ARIA support.
MUI (Material UI): component library with built-in keyboard navigation, focus management, and RTL support.
TypeScript: strict typing that helps keep interface contracts consistent and prevents classes of runtime errors.
IBM Plex Sans Hebrew: font served from our own origin, chosen for high legibility in both Hebrew and Latin scripts.
